ShareThis - Drupal 6 Module

The ShareThis module is developed for Drupal 6 and future updates/versions only.

By using the sharethis module, you are able to implement the ShareThis social bookmarking utility on selected node types. (http://sharethis.com) The code for this project was based on the original share project for Drupal 5.x. The code for this project has been trimmed down to only work with the ShareThis system, and not require any additional modules to work properly.

ShareThis Features

  • Customize your ShareThis code using the STAPI
  • Select node types you wish to display the ShareThis module on
  • Choose to display in $teaser view or not
  • Choose to display the ShareThis link in either the $link items, or in the $node->content itself
  • Customize the weight of the ShareThis link if in $node placement
  • Turn ShareThis off/on

Update on ShareThis module status

I apologize for not being around of late to update this module... I will work this week to address the few bugs in the list to work through... none of them appear big, so it should only take the time to update and commit... I also need to recheck that the STAPI is still working properly...

I have also been contacted by ShareThis staff regarding using this module as the official implementation on their site, hence the need to update the code, and make it ready for someone on the official team to make adjustments and continue forward with potential feature development.

ShareThis Release (6.x-1.3)

Okay, I spent more time trying to fix the bug in the ShareThis module than it took me to create the PingThis module.

I've fixed the issue with single and double quotes not being escaped. Please update to this latest version to correct that issue.

However, the issue where in some cases, duplicate ShareThis "buttons" are showing up on a single post didn't solve itself. After TONS of testing... I can only duplicate the problem on a Garland based theme.

Since the code is generated by javascript, it was hard to debug, but the HTML code generated on the pages where the error was occurring was still PERFECT. The list item was in the appropriate place, and there weren't any locations where there were two list items in the same unordered list of links. It seemed to happen MUCH more often when refreshing the page... simply a single click on the home link would produce the duplicate buttons on a much less frequent scale.

I've got more investigating to do, and I'll put together a very detailed description of the issue to post between drupal.org and the sharethis.com forums to try to further debug why this may be happening.

For most users, this upgrade should solve all issues, unless you are on a theme that is Garland, or was based originally on Garland. Those users may continue to experience intermittent issues with double links.

ShareThis Bug Fix (6.x-1.3-3)

I've uploaded a new version that fixed a couple of issues, and I think it may also solve the issue with duplicate ShareThis buttons on single nodes.

Please download the latest version above, or at

sharethis not working with ie

Sharethis seems to work on my page with every browser but internet explorer. It works with ie8 but not ie7

Any update on this? Every other browser works well with it, firefox, chrome, safari, etc

Any help would be appreciated

I hate Internet Explorer...

I think the error is due to the javascript that ShareThis provides (not the module) Internet Explorer, even the new versions are just so freaking inept. The design on this site is completely broken even in IE7 simply because it can't render CSS properly. It seems like FF and others are ignoring the simple javascript errors that ShareThis is throwing, again not in the module code, but in the core data from Sharethis.com. But IE seems to just die when it encounters the smallest of errors.

I'll look further into this, and see what I can come up with.

sounds good, most of my

sounds good, most of my traffic comes from firefox and safari. I look forward to seeing what you find out. IE8 even works with it, just not 5,6,7. Thanks,.
