Well, after a week and a half, I’m ready to consider this thing launched, and August 1st seems like a perfect time to make it happen. I have had a slow string of visitors during some of this construction phase, and I hope those people find their way back to see the finished project at some point…
With what I have left, I really only have a few minor things that I would consider major before an official launch which are as follows:
- Login Page
- I need to customize the login page to be themed with the rest of the site. Need to add background image & color, along with a login box that I think will be simply square looking like the post body sections just to make it simple, and keep it looking like the rest of the content on site.
- Export layout images again with minor adjustments.
- For the most part, this is just to fix a few shadows that are a little outta whack. Most people would never notice it, but I’m going to be that picky since this is supposed to be an expression of not only my thoughts, skills, and creativity, but also
- Images for “Social Sharing”
- I still need to work up a design for the button I want to use for the “Social Sharing” links that are currently text links in the lower right of each post.
- I also need to throw in an attractive little ‘close’ button that is currently labeled ‘hide’ when a Social Sharing section is active.
I had a list in my head of other items I wanted to consider integrating in the future, but at the moment, I’ve completely lost those.
So, in a little moment of congratulations to myself, this blog is now officially live, and my next post will be the first of the ’serious’ posts related to something other than building this site…. although, it is going to concern the site, and certain browser bugs/inefficiencies that I’ve found while putting together this project that pushes the browsers limits of alpha layer transparency.
Welcome, add this blog to your favorites, digg it, whatever… and thanks for coming!!

This is a little something I came across related to my former employer… it’s way too funny…

Just found this little miracle. Getting ready to play with it a bit, and hoping it’s at least half as cool as the developer toolbar for Firefox.

I’ve got it all figured out, and have got the layout perfected in Safari and Firefox, but have one minor issue in IE with the #primary div being pushed about 30 pixels left that I still have to sort….
Lastly, that leaves me with the menu issue needing to be resolved, and some minor CSS in the post body. Not as quickly as I had hoped, but I think I’ll have this what I would consider ‘ready for public view’ in another day or two max… I’m sure hoping to get some positive feedback on the design, and implementation… :)

Well, while making some minor adjustments to the theme, and renaming a few elements that I will be manipulating with jQuery function, I managed to destroy the style, and now the layout is rendering differently in FF, Safari, and IE. Firefox is the one causing the problem it seems. IE and Safari are rendering everything the same, but there’s a 20-30 pixel difference somewhere that is causing me all sorts of grief tonight…. that’s really crappy, since I was almost ready to consider this damn thing ‘ready’, but it looks like tomorrow I’m going to be debugging CSS until my brain explodes.

Okay, so after some digging, and reading over some of the jQuery documentation, I found my solution to the problem of my jQuery code breaking the search and ajax archive feature that are built into the K2 theme that I have used as my base for this project.

Stargate: The Ark of Truth is a planned direct-to-DVD movie that will be written and directed by Robert C. Cooper. The movie went into production in April 2007, and will be released in the first half of 2008.This movie will be the conclusion of Stargate SG-1′s Ori story arc.

LAME… I’d love to see this play this on an IMAX screen… I’d really think after 10 seasons on TV, it would warrant a real movie that’s shown in theaters..

Well, I’ve been very unproductive this evening… I can’t seem to locate the problem with some of the ajax functions that were here previously, and haven’t found much right off online, so I’m going to have to keep searching.
Basically, once I implemented a very simple set of jQuery commands, I had my expanding sections working, and pulling data from an external page in no time, however, the basic functions that were part of the K2 theme, and also the lightbox2 plugin are now causing errors. I was able to get thickbox working with a little hacking of the crossroads plugin, so I figure in a little time I can either determine the problem with using jQuery AND prototype/scriptaculous libraries at the same time.
