Things have been crazy of late since taking the YourSports project. It is coming along nicely, however, my inbox, and voicemail have been working overtime taking messages on potential work that I'm scrambling to bid on and fit into the current schedule I'm working with.

I've been doing what I do now for over a decade, and without sounding full of myself, would easily consider myself an expert in the web development business. I've worked for large companies in the web department handling the corporate websites, and for web development firms dealing with one site after another. I've wanted for years to operate my own development shop so that I could be the alpha dog in charge, creating the business after my own vision of how a company in the industry should operate.

I have operated Himerus Inc. for many years now, but never been anything more than a lone developer pushing for the corporate appearance. As any developer knows, there's only so much you can accomplish as an individual. And I'm currently at that breaking point.

With what I'm able to charge for my freelance work, I'm never able to afford to put back for office space, employees, etc. At most, I may have enough to sub-contract out minor jobs, but that's it, and even that is pushing it. 

With all this in mind, I'm currently working on two major projects for the future. 

What's coming in the future...

I am currently finishing up some designs for a custom Drupal & Wordpress theme site with professional themes ready to upload and install for the general population. As you all know, Drupal is my bread and butter, and what I choose for all sites of my own and for clients. I am currently ONLY accepting contract work at the moment on the Drupal platform. However, Wordpress is a great system of its own, and there are tons of major blogs using it, so adding in Wordpress themes only makes sense from a business model perspective.

I will have an announcement soon on the name, and more information on this project, and expect to see the site launch prior to the new year with a great set of Drupal themes to start with.

Business Plan

I'm currently researching some business plan companies that may be able to put together that "perfect" business plan for me to present to the bank, and hopefully some venture capital firms in order to gain funding for my full service design shop. 

I already have my "star" employee lined out and ready to commit when the time is upon us. (and no, I'm not talking about me as the star employee!)

I'm truly tired of being at the mercy of others in the employment game, and freelance can only get me so far, so it's time that I really take the leap, and push forward to running a full service web development company the way companies in my industry are supposed to operate. I have no doubt in the Denver area market to start with locally that the team I'm considering will crush all in our path, and have plans or ideas on where I would actually want my head office to be, as well as opening up branches in Europe to take on some of the large dev companies over there.
