Web Design & Development & other random crap is what I'll be blogging about here...

Review: OvernightPrints.com

I recently ordered a new print of a design I threw together for a 2 sided, glossy business card. I was sent a link for OvernightPrints.com by a friend, and decided to check them out. I've never had a ton of luck with getting my card designs cut properly. Kinkos is notoriously the worst of any print shop I've ever used, and since all of my card designs have elements going fully to the edge of the card, every card looked different, off-center, etc.

So I was happy to try to find a decent print service that had the right equipment, and maybe even a high school diploma who could do what I needed without wasting hundreds of cards that were ruined due to user error as my prior experiences have resulted in with other printing companies locally.

I placed my order last Thursday (23rd), and had a shipment notification first thing Monday morning (27th). The cards were waiting for me at home last night (30th). I was excited to see the quality of the print, so I tore into the box excitedly before I could even drop my laptop off my shoulder. Usually on any prints I've taken into Kinkos or a similar print shop I'd order 200-300 cards, and have about half of them usable in the end at best.

With the Overnight Prints shipment, I found offhand maybe 50 cards of the 1000 I ordered that had some minor smudging off of the press they were using, but which are still VERY usable. On a percentages basis, they get my highest review. All the cards are cut the same... barely ever a 1/16in difference in where the lines lay out.

Overall Impression of OvernightPrints.com Service:

  • Website Usability: A
  • Website Ordering Process: A+
  • Timeliness of Print: B+ (Thurs - Sun Night/Mon Morning)
  • Timeliness of Shipping (UPS) A+
  • Quality of Printed Materials: A+

I'm quite happy with my order from OvernightPrints, and will definitely use them again as soon as I get tired of this design, and slap a new one together.
