Web Design & Development & other random crap is what I'll be blogging about here...

Getting Social: Twitter, Flickr & Others

Well, it's been awhile since I really went about promoting myself, and pushing what I do and who I am to the world, however, with the upcoming possibilities, it's time I organize my online social life, and employ the tools best suited to get me in and keep me in contact with the people I really give a crap about, and the network of people I don't know but might share interests with.

I've really tried to dig into my Facebook account, and customize things. The "new facebook" layout, although I thought gay at first has a lot of potential. I see Facebook becoming a cornerstone in my online life.

I've also spent a "little" time setting up my LinkedIn profile. I've ONLY joined up here since it is so heavily focues on business/professional networking and references/recommendations.

Last year, I signed up for a Flickr pro account, but never used it much at all. I just renewed that, and especially since I'm getting my kick ass Sony Cyber-Shot, I'll be using it much move over the near future I think, so I can use Flickr for some image hosting needs, my own photos & photography, graphic art, who knows. I realy have always liked the interface they use, and am happy to pay the 25 yearly for unlimited usage. A true bargain.

I've also until now, never given in to the Twitter pressure. I finally set up an account over there today though, and will see how it goes... To me, it just seems like it's nothing more than ONE single feature that I can get in Facebook, and now I've had to use a Facebook application to integrate the two status messages, and that only works I think if I update from twitter. I dunno, but I have found some streams from peeps I'd enjoy watching for info, so maybe it'll prove as a source of info for me, and not so much about what I'm doing.

So here's to being more "social" and figuring out how to use these tools to expand who I am, the communities that hear about or from me, and to generally me more social... in general.
