After I had a great time at #d4d (Design 4 Drupal - Boston) I thought I'd post a quick note on the current sessions I'm proposing for Drupalcon Paris.
I plan to try to get to Paris no matter what, but I was told that if I wanted to get the company to send me, I had to get a session approved, so I'm off and working on a couple great topics, and how I can really make them into valuable sessions for a wide variety of users.
My first submission was on the 960gs theme (ninesixty) for Drupal. I've had the pleasure of using the photoshop grid overlays created by @nathansmith for quite some time in my designs, but never used the real underlying power of the CSS behind it. I'm an idiot, I know. After getting to see @nathansmith and @toddross in their combined presentation on 960 at Design 4 Drupal - Boston, I was very excited to get back to the drawning board on some 960gs ideas and implementations.
The second submission I have put in is for the current Taxonomy module I'm working on, called Taxonomy Rockstar. The module is still very incomplete, but came about after a project here at CommonPlaces where I was faced with what should have been a very simple task in rendering a slick taxonomy browser. I found that it would have taken 5 or more DEV release modules to come close to building out 60-75% of the functionality that I needed. So for this project, a 300 or so line custom module was done. At some point that module really broke from where I want Taxonomy Rockstar to go, but it gave me a great example of how to really leverage taxonomy to do anything you can imagine.
With all that in mind, I'm working on detailed descriptions and ideas of what I will cover in each session. To read more about the sessions, and to vote them up if you are already registered for Drupalcon Paris, please visit the following links!
Please vote for them, and help send me to Paris!!!

Updated: To present 960 at Drupalcon with Todd Nienkerk
I've recently spoken with Todd Nienkerk of Four Kitchens regarding the proposed session for Drupalcon Paris. As it is now, we are planning on putting this together as co-presenters on the topic, and can hopefully expand on the current presentation Todd has together that he has presented around the United States and Europe. I recently saw his presentation with Nathan Smith, original creator of the 960gs framework at the D4D Boston event, and look forward to teaming up with Todd to make this a great presentation for Drupalcon!!
For now the presentation has been updated with the title Accelerated grid theming using NineSixty, and has updated description text that will be updated and modified accordingly as Todd & I work out details on the presentation.
